The Newly Ordained Priests
The ordination brought joy and blessings to the community as the following deacons were elevated to the sacred ministry of priesthood:
- Rev. Fr. Augustine Pulavanniyoor

- Rev. Fr. Mathew Kuttipuram
Each of these new priests carries forward a legacy of faith, dedication, and service, committing their lives to shepherd the faithful and proclaim the Gospel.
A Sacred Ceremony
The ordination ceremony began at 8:30 AM, surrounded by the prayers of clergy, family, and faithful gathered in the grandeur of St. Mary’s Cathedral. The solemn Qurbono and the powerful moments of laying on of hands encapsulated the beauty of the West Syriac Rite tradition, infusing the space with divine grace and joy.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mor Makarios, the Bishop of Puttur, led the sacred rituals, praying for the newly ordained and their future ministry. In his homily, he reflected on the profound responsibilities of the priesthood, urging the new priests to be servants of mercy, leaders of prayer, and witnesses to Christ’s love in the world.
A Time of Thanksgiving and Hope
The ordination ceremony was not only a moment of joy for the families and parishes of the new priests but also a source of inspiration for the entire community. It reaffirmed the commitment of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church to nurturing vocations and strengthening the faith of its members.
The faithful and clergy present extended their heartfelt prayers and blessings to Rev. Fr. Augustine Pulavanniyoor, Rev. Fr. George Thurukulathu, and Rev. Fr. Mathew Kuttipuram, wishing them grace and strength as they begin their sacred journey.
A Grateful Acknowledgment
The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church Eparchy of Puttur expressed its gratitude to all who contributed to this blessed occasion, including the clergy, organisers, and faithful who united in prayer and celebration. Let us continue to keep these new priests in our prayers, asking for God’s abundant blessings upon their ministry.
As we rejoice in this sacred moment, let us also remember the words of our Lord: “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out labourers into his harvest” (Matthew 9:37-38). May these newly ordained priests be faithful labourers in His vineyard, bringing hope and light to all they serve.
