In reverent observance of the 72nd memorial feast of Venerable Archbishop Mar Ivanios, the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) and the Kuwait Malankara Rite Movement (KMRM) jointly commenced the 15th annual Mar Ivanios Commemoration Pilgrimage from the Our Lady of Arabia Church in Ahmadi, Kuwait.
The sacred procession began with a Holy Qurbono celebrated under the principal celebrancy of Rt. Rev. Dr. Thomas Kanjiramkulil. The faithful gathered in prayerful unity, offering incense and heartfelt devotion at this opening ceremony. Following the Eucharistic celebration, the esteemed priest led the Vallikurishu prayer, invoking blessings upon the pilgrims.
In a moment of special honour, MCYM President Mr James K.S. and MCYM Secretary Mr Renil Raju were entrusted with the portrait of Venerable Mar Ivanios, symbolising the spiritual presence and guidance of the venerable father throughout the pilgrimage. This sacred rite marked the formal inauguration of the commemoration journey.
The Kuwait Malankara Rite Movement’s Ahmadi Area Committee warmly welcomed the pilgrims, extending fellowship and support to all participating in this holy expedition. The opening ceremonies were further graced by the leadership of MCYM Treasurer Mr R. P. Raju, Area Coordinator Mr Manu Moni, and Programme Convener Mr Sajo Mathew, whose efforts ensured a prayerful and well-organised beginning.
The day concluded with a shared meal at Neercha Vilambothu, where pilgrims gathered in fellowship, marking the close of the first day of this spiritually enriching journey.
