The Bethany Missionary Congregation mourns the passing of Fr Bernad Kunniparambil OIC of the Trivandrum Nalanchira Navajeevan Province. He was 89. His life carried the quiet strength of a man who served without fuss and remained steady in his vocation through many decades of changing pastoral needs.
The funeral rites were held on 6 December at the Navajeevan Province Cemetery, Nalanchira. The service was led by His Excellency Samuel Mor Irenios, Bishop of the Pathanamthitta Eparchy. His Excellency Vincent Mar Paulos, Bishop of the Marthandam Eparchy, and His Excellency Yoohanon Mor Alexios, Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum, concelebrated.
The prayers reflected gratitude for a priest who stood firm in his commitment to the Bethany charism, offering a lifetime of pastoral work marked by simplicity and reliability. The presence of clergy, religious, and faithful from various communities showed the regard he had earned through quiet service rather than public attention.
Fr Bernad’s memory will remain close to the hearts of those who lived and worked with him. His passing brings a gentle reminder that the strength of the Church often grows through the hidden fidelity of men like him.
