Mavelikara – In a significant moment for the Mavelikara Diocese, Rev. Fr. Job Kalluvilayil has been appointed as the new Vicar General, entrusted with assisting His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Polycarpos in shepherding the faithful with devotion and wisdom.
Rev. Fr. Job, a son of the Malankara Church hailing from St. Mary’s Malankara Catholic Church, Ambalappuram, brings to this esteemed office a lifetime of pastoral experience and spiritual leadership. Born on 27 September 1967 to K.M. Kochumman and Marykutty, he was ordained a priest on 28 December 1994 in Ayoor and has since served in numerous parishes both in Kerala and abroad.
His formation in the priesthood took place at the venerable St. Aloysius Minor Seminary, Trivandrum, followed by advanced studies at St. Mary’s Malankara Seminary, Nalanchira, and St. Joseph’s Seminary, Aluva. Beyond his theological formation, Rev. Fr. Job is also academically accomplished, serving as the Director of Mar Ivanios College of Law in Haripadu, Cheruthana, reflecting his commitment to the integration of faith and learning.
Over the years, Rev. Fr. Job has fulfilled pastoral responsibilities in diverse parishes including Venmony, Parassala, Huston (USA), and Haripadu, to name a few. His leadership within ecclesial organizations, such as his tenure as National Director of the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) and his role as Secretary of the St. Maria Vianney Priests Welfare Association, exemplify his dedication to fostering a vibrant Church community.
The appointment as Vicar General marks a new chapter in his journey, where he will stand alongside His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Polycarpos, the shepherd of the Mavelikara Diocese, supporting him in guiding the diocese with pastoral care and administrative prudence.
