As the sun rose on a day filled with both nostalgia and hopeful anticipation, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Polycarpos received a warm and prayerful farewell from the clergy and faithful of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum. Currently serving as Auxiliary Bishop of this Major Archieparchy, Mor Polycarpos now stands ready to assume his new role as Bishop of Mavelikara, with his enthronement scheduled for Sunday, 29th June 2025.
The ceremony, held at the new episcopal residence in Mavelikara, was graced by the presence of His Eminent Beatitude Cardinal Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Samuel Mar Irenios, alongside priests and faithful from the Trivandrum Archieparchy. Their presence testified to the spiritual bonds woven over years of shared service and fellowship.
Under the leadership of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mor Ignathios, the Bishop Administrator of Mavelikara, clergy, religious, and representatives of the laity gathered to express their heartfelt wishes for the bishop-designate. The event was not merely a farewell but a sacred sending forth, invoking the Holy Spirit’s guidance as Mor Polycarpos prepares to shepherd the faithful of Mavelikara.
