Bishop Paul Antony Mullassery’s Fraternal Visit Strengthens Ecclesial Bonds with Mavelikara Eparchy

Date:

In a beautiful expression of ecclesial fraternity and mutual respect, His Excellency Most Rev. Paul Antony Mullassery, the 14th Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Quilon, paid a fraternal visit to the Syro Malankara Catholic Bishops of the Mavelikara Eparchy—His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Mathews Mor Polycarpos and His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mor Ignathios, Bishop Emeritus.

Bishop Mullassery’s visit, though brief, spoke volumes of the communion that exists among the diverse traditions of the Catholic Church in Kerala. His presence at the Mavelikara Eparchy exemplified the ecumenical spirit that bridges the Roman and Syro Malankara Churches, united in their shared faith and mission.

Known for his pastoral zeal and leadership within the Latin Church, Bishop Paul Antony Mullassery also serves as Chairman of the KCBC Family and Pro-life Commission, and as Vice Chairman of both the KCBC Laity Commission and the KCBC Education Commission. His multifaceted ministry is widely respected across ecclesial boundaries, bringing a spirit of service and collaboration that enriches the wider Catholic community.

The Mavelikara faithful, witnessing this encounter between their bishops and the Roman Catholic shepherd, are reminded of the Gospel call to unity without uniformity. The visit coincided with the recent enthronement of Bishop Mathews Mor Polycarpos, a period of renewal and hope for the Syro Malankara faithful, while also honouring the steadfast legacy of Bishop Emeritus Joshua Mor Ignathios.

This meeting reinforces the conviction that the unity of the Catholic Church is expressed in shared prayer, mutual encouragement, and cooperative witness to the world. It is a sacred dialogue of love that honours the distinct traditions yet embraces the one Body of Christ.

As the Church continues to navigate its path through the complexities of modern life, such gestures of friendship and fraternity illuminate the way forward—a journey marked by faith, hope, and charity.

The Syro Malankara Catholic community holds these bishops in prayer, asking the Lord to bless their ministries and to deepen the bonds that unite all who serve in His vineyard.
