In a gesture of devotion and deep-rooted faith, the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the Kurishadi at the southern side of St. George Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Kurumbala, was blessed and laid by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mor Ignathios, Bishop of the Eparchy of Mavelikara.
The Kurishadi, which stands as a sacred symbol of the Passion of our Lord, will be rebuilt and rededicated under the patronage of Our Lady of Health, as announced by His Excellency during the stone-laying ceremony.
The liturgical rite was graced by the presence of Rev. Fr. Mathew Valiyaparambil, Vicar of the parish, Very Rev. Fr. George Charuvila Corepiscopo, Vicar of the Kudaschanad Parish, and Rev. Fr. Geevarghese Charuvila, (native priest) of the locality.
Faithful from the parish, neighbouring parishes, and residents of the surrounding area gathered in large numbers to witness the sacred act of foundation-laying and to offer their prayers, marking a new beginning for the veneration of the Cross in the region.
In this blessed moment, the Kurumbala South community reaffirmed its devotion to Christ crucified and its filial love to the Mother of God, who now lends her name to this sacred site.
“May the Cross that stood upon Calvary rise again here, as a sign of hope and a source of blessing for generations to come.”
