On 5 July 2025, the faithful of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church once again gathered at the Major Archiepiscopal Cathedral in Trivandrum to continue the sacred commemoration honouring the 72nd memorial feast and the centennial of the episcopal consecration of our venerable father, Archbishop Mar Ivanios.
The Holy Qurbono was offered with deep reverence by the Very Reverend Vicar General of the Pathanamthitta Diocese, Rev. Fr. Varghese Kalayil Vadakkethil. His solemn celebration drew the community into prayerful reflection, grounding the commemoration in heartfelt devotion.
The homily, delivered by Rev. Fr. Sijo James Charivuparambil, centred on the theme The Vision of Reunion of Venerable Mar Ivanios. His words stirred the congregation to contemplate the profound unity that Mar Ivanios sought—a unity not merely of organisation, but of spirit and faith, a rekindling of the apostolic communion that binds all believers.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful proceeded to the tomb of Venerable Mar Ivanios, where incense was offered in solemn prayer, led by the celebrants. This moment of quiet veneration served as a bridge between the Church’s historic foundation and its present mission, inviting all to renew their commitment to the path laid down by their spiritual father.
As these days of remembrance unfold, the Church is called to live anew the dream of reunion that Mar Ivanios nurtured with unwavering faith. May his vision inspire each heart to be a living witness to the unity and love that are the hallmarks of the Syro Malankara Catholic tradition.
