On 4 July 2025, the Syro Malankara Catholic Church continued its solemn observance of the 15-day period commemorating the 72nd memorial feast and centennial anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Venerable Archbishop Mar Ivanios. The faithful gathered once again at the Major Archiepiscopal Cathedral in Trivandrum, embracing the spirit of prayer and reflection.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Vincent Mor Paulos, Bishop of the Marthandam Diocese, presided over the Holy Qurbono with a heart filled with devotion. His sermon, centred on the theme The Mission Field and Venerable Mar Ivanios, illuminated the saintly father’s vision for the Church’s apostolic mission and its ever-expanding embrace.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful assembled at the tomb of Venerable Mar Ivanios, where Bishop Mor Paulos led a solemn incense prayer. This act of veneration connected the present-day Church with the enduring legacy of its founder, renewing the bonds of faith and commitment.
As the commemoration unfolds, we are reminded of Mar Ivanios’s unyielding dedication to the mission entrusted to the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. His example challenges us to carry forward the work of evangelisation and service with humility and zeal, nurturing the spiritual growth of our communities far and wide.
May these sacred days deepen our resolve to walk faithfully in the footsteps of our venerable father, keeping alive the flame of unity and apostolic purpose he ignited a century ago.
