On 3 July 2025, the Syro Malankara Catholic Church gathered once more in solemn devotion as the 15-day period honouring the 72nd memorial feast and the centennial anniversary of the episcopal consecration of Venerable Archbishop Mar Ivanios continued at the Major Archiepiscopal Cathedral in Trivandrum.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mor Ignathios presided over the Holy Qurbono, offering the faithful a moment to contemplate the profound legacy left by the venerable Archbishop. His sermon, centred on Education and Venerable Mar Ivanios, illuminated the enduring influence of Mar Ivanios’s commitment to learning and spiritual formation within the Malankara community.
Following the Eucharistic celebration, the faithful assembled at the tomb of Venerable Mar Ivanios, where Bishop Ignathios led a reverent incense prayer. This act symbolised a collective offering of gratitude and supplication, binding the Church’s present to its foundational past.
The ongoing commemoration invites all of us to reflect deeply on the harmonious blend of faith and knowledge that Mar Ivanios championed. His vision for education as a pillar of ecclesial strength continues to inspire the Church’s mission and the formation of future generations.
As we proceed through these sacred days, may we be renewed in our commitment to uphold the teachings and spirit of our venerable father, allowing his example to guide our path forward.
