On 2 July 2025, the Syro Malankara Catholic Church continued its sacred observance of the 15-day period leading to the 72nd memorial feast and centennial anniversary of episcopal consecration of the venerable Archbishop Mar Ivanios. Following the solemn inauguration on 1 July, the faithful gathered once again at the Major Archiepiscopal Cathedral in Trivandrum to deepen their prayerful reflection on the spiritual legacy of our holy father.
The Right Reverend Varkey Attupurath Corepiscopa, Vicar General of the Major Archiepiscopal House, offered the Holy Qurbono with reverence and warmth, grounding the faithful in the enduring message of filial devotion exemplified by Mar Ivanios. His homily invited all to embrace the unity and apostolic zeal that have shaped our Church since that historic consecration a century ago.
The prayers continued at the tomb of Venerable Mar Ivanios, where His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mor Silvanos led the incense offering, symbolising the ascent of heartfelt petitions to the heavens. This solemn moment deepened the communion of the faithful with the memory and intercession of our spiritual pioneer.
As the commemoration unfolds, the Syro Malankara Catholic Church renews its gratitude for the foundation laid by Mar Ivanios, cherishing the vision of unity and faithfulness that continues to guide us on our ecclesial journey.
