The Malankara Syrian Catholic Diocese of Mavelikara witnessed a noteworthy event on April 14, 2024, as the youth leaders gathered for the inaugural AGRAGA program, designed to foster leadership and community engagement among the young members of the Church. The event kicked off with Rev. Sister Niseema SIC raising the flag, symbolizing the launch of a new era in youth involvement within the diocese.
The ceremony was chaired by Roshan Varghese, the President of MCYM Mavelikara Diocese, who introduced the event amidst an atmosphere filled with enthusiasm and anticipation. The opening remarks were made by Rev. Father John Ayanuvelil, the Diocesan Director of MCYM Mavelikara, who highlighted the importance of youth leadership in shaping the future of the Church.
Former Diocesan Director Rev. Father Varghese Mukulampurath, KCYM State Vice-President Shijin Chengulam, and MCYM Diocesan Treasurer Renju Raju also spoke at the event, each delivering messages of encouragement and outlining the vision for AGRAGA. Stephy Anna further contributed to the discussion, emphasizing the role of active youth participation in the Church’s mission.
The event featured an ice-breaking session led by M.A. Johny, the former President of KCYM Neyyattinkara Diocese, and a “Leaders Talk” session steered by Laiju Koshy, former President of MCYM Thiruvalla Major Archdiocese. These sessions were aimed at building connections among the youth leaders and equipping them with the skills necessary for effective leadership and community service.
Alwin Emanuval, the Treasurer of MCYM Mavelikara Diocese, extended heartfelt thanks to all participants and speakers for their active engagement and contribution to the success of the inaugural AGRAGA event.
