Parassala Eparchy Launches Youth Year with ‘Assisian Esperanza 2024

Parassala: The Syro Malankara Catholic Church’s Parassala Eparchy Youth Movement inaugurated its activities for the year 2024 on March 3rd at St. George Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Ponneduthakuzhi, marking the beginning of a year filled with hope and spiritual growth. The auspicious ceremony, named ‘Assisian Esperanza’, was graced by the presence of His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of the Parassala Eparchy.

The event commenced with the hoisting of the flag by the Eparchial Animator, Rev. Sr. Seena John DM, setting a vibrant tone for the day. The Mar Ivanios Jesus Youth Team energized the gathering with an array of games and a musical feast, highlighting the 2024 MCYM theme, “Youth – Pilgrims of Hope”, introduced by the Eparchial Director, Rev. Dr. Prabeesh George.

The public meeting, presided over by the Eparchial President, Mr. Sharath Lal T.S., saw the official inauguration by lighting the lamp, symbolizing the start of the youth year, by His Excellency Mar Eusebius. This was followed by the unveiling of the year’s action plans under ‘Assisian Esperanza’, further enriching the diocese’s commitment to youth engagement and spiritual guidance.

In addition to the dignitaries, the event was attended by numerous priests and laypersons from the ecclesiastical district of Kattakkada and the local community. Notable speakers included the Parassala Eparchy Vicar General Monsignor Varghese Mathew Kalayil, Kattakkada Ecclesiastical District Vicar Rev. Fr. Thomas Pottapurayidam, and Director Rev. Fr. Xavier Konathuvilayil.

Appreciation was extended to the Ponneduthakuzhi parish community for their exceptional hospitality and for creating a conducive environment for the inauguration. The event witnessed participation from over 500 youths across the Parassala Eparchy, demonstrating the vibrant spirit and commitment of the young members of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church.

The ‘Assisian Esperanza’ initiative marks a significant step in engaging the youth of the Parassala Eparchy in spiritual and community-oriented activities, reinforcing their role as pillars of hope and faith in today’s society.
