Syro-Malankara Catholic Church UK Region Welcomes New Executive Committee for 2024–2026

The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church UK Region, with a forward-looking vision for the coming two years, has proudly announced the election of its new Executive Committee members. On a pleasant Sunday afternoon, the 21st of April 2024, community members from across Great Barr, Birmingham gathered to witness this significant event.

At the helm, taking the President’s role, is the Very Rev. Dr. Kuriakose Thadathil, known for his extensive pastoral experience and scholarly pursuits that have fortified the church’s mission in the diaspora. Mr. Rony Jacob assumes the position of Secretary, bringing a wealth of organisational expertise to the committee. Mr. Abraham Chandy, stepping into the role of Vice President, and Mr. Joby Jose, appointed as Treasurer, are both seasoned with years of service in church activities and financial stewardship.

The committee is bolstered by the presence of Mr. Christon Francis as Legal Advisor, ensuring a foundation of integrity and compliance with ecclesiastical and civil laws. Mrs. Princy Varghese joins as the Joint Secretary, adding to the gender diversity of the leadership and reinforcing the church’s commitment to inclusive representation.

The Executive Members comprise a blend of reverend priests, each bringing their unique pastoral insights and dedication to the committee’s objectives. Rev. Fr. James Elanjickal, Rev. Fr. Louis Charuvilaputhenveedu, Rev. Fr. Lukose Kannimel, Rev. Fr. Jibu Mathew, Rev. Fr. Kuriakose Thiruvail, Rev. Fr. Daniel Plavilayil, and Rev. Fr. Samuel Vilayil stand united in their resolve to spearhead initiatives that deepen the faith and engage the community in acts of worship, charity, and evangelisation.

As the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in the UK enters this new phase, the Executive Committee is charged with not only upholding the traditions and spiritual vigour of the church but also with innovating pathways for engagement in an ever-evolving socio-cultural British landscape.

The elected members embark on their journey with a mandate to engage, enlighten, and empower the Syro-Malankara Catholic community in the UK, promoting growth in faith and solidarity. This assemblage of leaders, devoted to the cause of the church, stands ready to guide their congregation with commitment and wisdom.
