In an appointment that honours Bahrain’s Catholic community, Rev. Fr. Jacob Kalluvila, Assistant Parish Priest of Sacred Heart Church and Spiritual Director of the Syro Malankara Catholic faithful in Bahrain, will participate as a representative of Bahrain at a distinguished assembly of priests convened at the Vatican. This special gathering is held in connection with the Universal Catholic Church’s Jubilee 2025.
The assembly, organised by the Holy See, is designed to bring together clergy from across the Universal Church to engage in prayer, reflection, and discussion on the life and mission of priests in the contemporary world. It is a moment for spiritual renewal and shared commitment as the Church approaches the significant milestone of the Jubilee.
Fr. Kalluvila’s presence is profoundly meaningful, not merely as a representative of Bahrain within the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia but also as a member of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. His participation highlights the richness and diversity of the Catholic communion present in the Gulf region, where the Syro Malankara Church stands alongside the Latin and other Eastern Catholic Churches in vibrant ecclesial fellowship.
Since July 2024, Fr. Kalluvila has faithfully guided the Family Ministry of the Apostolic Vicariate of Northern Arabia—a pastoral initiative launched by His Excellency Msgr. Aldo Berardi O.SS.T., Apostolic Vicar covering Bahrain, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia, and Qatar. This ministry nurtures family life and faith formation among the faithful scattered across the region, strengthening their spiritual roots amid challenging circumstances.
As Fr. Kalluvila prepares for this journey to the heart of the Catholic Church, the faithful of Bahrain and the wider Northern Vicariate unite in prayerful support. They entrust to God his ministry and his voice in Rome, hopeful that the fruits of this assembly will further enrich the life of the Church and deepen pastoral care for all Catholics, especially those far from their native lands.
May the Almighty continue to guide Rev. Fr. Jacob Kalluvila, granting him wisdom, strength, and grace in this important ecclesial mission.
