Rev. Fr. Abraham Kalakkudi, one of the senior Priests of the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, was called to eternal rest on 24 May 2012. He was 84 years old.
Fr. Abraham was born in 1928 as the son of late Ninan and Eliyamma. He was ordained a priest in 1952. He served in several parishes in the Archieparchy of Tiruvalla – St. John’s Metropolitan Cathedral, Vennikulam, Thelliyoor, Thachmom, Pandanad, Thiruvanvandoor, Nedumpuram, Amichakari, Kumbanad, Eraviperoor,Kurisumuttom, Kumblamthanam, Poovathoor, Koipuram and Vengal.He had his higher studies in Rome in 1953. He also served as the Secretary to the Bishop, Chancellor of the Eparchy, Director of Social Service Society, Deputy Secretary of CBCI in Delhi, Asst. Director of P.O.C, Rector and Vice-Rector Infant Mary’s Minor Seminary Tiruvalla, Professor in the Minor Seminaries in Tiruvalla and Muvattupuzha.
The funeral ceremony will be held at St. Thomas Malankara Catholic Church, Vennikulam on Monday 28 May 2012. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos will be the chief celebrant of the funeral ceremony.
