Malankara Mobile Application and MalankaraMap Website Launched to Strengthen Global Connectivity

Date:

Trivandrum, January 2, 2025 – A historic step forward in the digital age unfolded today with the launch of the Malankara Mobile Application and MalankaraMap website. These pioneering initiatives were officially dedicated by His Eminent Beatitude Cardinal Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. The twin launches mark a significant moment in the Church’s mission to enhance accessibility and global connection for the faithful.

A New Digital Horizon for the Malankara Faithful

The Malankara Mobile Application, crafted as the official mobile platform for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, serves as a comprehensive spiritual resource. Available on Android and iOS devices, the app brings liturgical texts, Church history, daily readings, and Mass schedules directly to the hands of the faithful.

Complementing this initiative is the MalankaraMap website. Designed to aid Church members in locating Malankara parishes across the globe, this user-friendly platform offers detailed maps and information about various Church establishments in different eparchies. It is an indispensable resource for those travelling or seeking spiritual guidance while away from their home parish. Importantly, the website is not a replacement for the Church’s official website but an additional tool dedicated to helping the faithful locate their nearest Church communities.

The Malankara Mobile Application: A Gateway to Spiritual Enrichment

Developed under the guidance of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mor Silvanos, Curia Bishop and Chairman of the Media Commission, and executed by the Malankara Library team led by Rev. Fr. Sebastian John Kizhakkethil, the Malankara Mobile Application offers a wealth of features, including:

  • Church History & Leadership: Insightful details about the Church’s journey, diocesan profiles, and the lives of past fathers, including Blessed Mar Ivanios.
  • Daily Lectionary: Scripture readings, saints’ biographies, and liturgical reflections in Malayalam and English.
  • Liturgy & Prayers: Comprehensive prayer texts in various languages, including Sh’himo and fasting prayers.
  • Mass Locator: Interactive maps with detailed Mass schedules for parishes worldwide.
  • Catechism Resources: Materials for Sunday schools in Malayalam and English.
  • Hymns, Songs, and Videos: Spiritual music and curated content from Malankara Catholic TV.
  • Library: A digital treasure trove of books and resources for spiritual growth.

Embracing Modern Tools for a Timeless Mission

Speaking at the launch, His Eminent Beatitude Cardinal Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos reflected on the importance of these tools:
“As we stand in this Jubilee Year of Christ’s birth, it is our duty to embrace every opportunity to bring the Church closer to its people. The Malankara Mobile Application and MalankaraMap are not just technological advancements; they are manifestations of our faith and love for the Church, ensuring that our traditions and spiritual life remain accessible to all.”

An Invitation to the Faithful

The Church invites every member of the Malankara community to explore these groundbreaking platforms. The Malankara Mobile Application is now available for download on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store by searching for “Malankara.” For those seeking to connect with the Church during travel or find information about nearby parishes, MalankaraMap is live at www.malankaramap.com.

Both initiatives are set to enrich the spiritual journeys of the faithful, bridging distances and strengthening the bonds of our community.

Gratitude and Encouragement

The Church extends profound gratitude to Rev. Fr. Sebastian John Kizhakkethil and the Malankara Library team for their exceptional efforts in developing the mobile application. Likewise, the invaluable contribution of Angelo Alummoottil in creating the MalankaraMap website is recognised with deep appreciation. These collaborative efforts highlight the shared vision of preserving our Church’s rich traditions while making them more accessible than ever before.

Let us embrace this digital innovation, ensuring our rich traditions and liturgical practices continue to inspire and unite us for generations to come.
