KMRM Ushers in New Leadership for 2024

Date:

The Kuwait Malankara Rite Movement (KMRM), a lighthouse of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Kuwait for over thirty years, has heralded a new chapter with the election of its Central Managing Committee (CMC) for the year 2024. The Virgin Mary Hall of the Holy Family Co-Cathedral in Kuwait City bore witness to the solemn oath-taking ceremony presided over by the spiritual director of KMRM, Rt. Rev. John Thundiath Cor Episcopo.

In an assembly brimming with the spirit of ecclesial service, the new office bearers pledged their commitment to the vibrant Syro-Malankara Catholic community in Kuwait. Babuji Bathery steps up as the President of KMRM, with Binu K John undertaking the mantle of Secretary, and Rana Varghese assuming the crucial role of Treasurer.

The vice-presidential roles are embraced by Joseph K Daniel, Jubin P Mathew, and Thomas John, representing a leadership team dedicated to the growth and spiritual nourishment of the community. Mathew Koshy has been entrusted with the responsibilities of Working Secretary, Joben Joy as Office Secretary, and Gijo John shares the financial stewardship as Joint Treasurer.

The Area Presidents for the respective regions within Kuwait, namely Joji Vellappalli for Abbassiya, Sharon Tharakan for Ahmadi, Jose Varghese for the City area, and Shinu M Joseph for Salmiya, have been appointed, each ready to lead with zeal and dedication.

The Family Outreach Ministry (FOM) will be helmed by President Bindu Manoj, while Jilto James takes charge as President of the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM), and Liju Parakkal will serve as the Headmaster for the Sunday Malankara Catholic Faith Formation (SMCFF). Jojimon Thomas has been designated the Chairman of the Advisory Board, providing seasoned guidance to the community.

Overseeing the financial integrity of KMRM will be Shaji Varghese as Chief Auditor, with George Mathew appointed the Chief Election Commissioner, ensuring the democratic values of the movement are upheld.

The inaugural ceremony was a vibrant testament to the communal harmony and participatory ethos of the KMRM, with over five hundred members across Kuwait in attendance. This significant event not only marks the transition of leadership but also celebrates the collective commitment of the Syro-Malankara Catholic diaspora in fostering faith, culture, and fellowship in their home away from home.

The newly elected office bearers, along with the four Area committees, FOM, and MCYM, have already commenced their service, embarking on a mission to enrich the spiritual and social life of the Malankara Catholics in Kuwait. As they shoulder their new responsibilities, the KMRM community looks forward with hope and prayer to a year of fruitful ministries and divine blessings.
