St. John’s Malankara Medical Village started at Pirappencode by the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum was blessed by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos in the presence of Excellency Most Rev. Joshua Mar Ignathios, His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas Mar Anthonios and His Excellency Samuel Mar Irenios at 2.30pm Saturday 5 November 2011. The formal inauguration of the community hospital was done by Shri Vayalar Ravi, Hon’ble Minister of Overseas Indian Affairs and Minister of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India. During the public meeting at 3pm Most Rev. Samuel Mar Irenios, the Auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum welcomed the gathering. The meeting was presided over by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos. Shri. Sampath MP, Shri Koliakode N. Krishnan Nair MLA, Shri. Palode Ravi MLA, Most Rev. Joshua Mar Ignathios (Bishop of Mavelikkara), His Excellency Most Rev. Thomas Mar Anthonios(Bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia), Rev. Mother Ardra SIC(Bethany Triandrum Province), Janab. Fathahudeen Rashadi (Imam, Venjaramoodu Muslim Jama-Ath), Smt. Susanne Schroff (Sanni Foundation, Switzerland), Shri. E. Mohlmann (St. Vincentius – Diabetes-Hilfe, Germany), Shri. Wolfgang Schuler (Wolfgang – Schuler Foundation), Smt. Ramani P. Nair (Dist. Panchayath President, Trivandrum), Shri. K. Thankappan Nair (Manikkal Panchayath President), Smt. Lekshmi Kylas (LIC of India, Trivandrum Division), and Shri T. Jayakumar (General Secretary, PRA, Palavila) felicitated this new venture of the Syro-Malankra Catholic Church. The meeting concluded with the words of gratitude by Rev. Fr. Jose Kizhakkedathu, the directory of the Medical Village.
The new center will have Diabetic Research Centre, Physiotherapy Centre and St. John’s Community Hospital with various departments like General Medicine, Mental Health, Palliative Care unit, etc.. along with the Asha Bhavan and T.B. Centre. Many priests, sisters and faithful were present during this auspicious occasion.
