As part of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church’s centenary celebrations of the Reunion Movement, a special priestly training session took place at Mount Carmel Retreat Centre, Vettinadu. The programme commenced at 10:00 AM with an inaugural message from His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mor Silvanos, Curia Bishop, led spiritual formation through Lectio Divina, offering deep reflections and practical training. In the afternoon, His Beatitude addressed the gathered clergy, discussing the challenges facing the Church today and the importance of spiritual renewal.
Following this, a session on cybersecurity provided essential information on how to safeguard against financial fraud, a growing concern in the digital age. This class highlighted practical steps for priests to protect themselves and their parishioners from online threats.
In the late afternoon, a meaningful event unfolded with the consecration of a newly constructed statue of Christ the King, located at Mount Carmel Hills. His Beatitude, accompanied by the priests, solemnly blessed the statue, marking a momentous occasion in the retreat. The statue, now standing proudly, symbolizes the Church’s dedication to Christ’s mission and reign.
The event saw the participation of over 115 priests, signifying the unity and collective dedication of the clergy as they prepare for the Year of the Word. This gathering re-energized the priests, emphasizing the importance of personal and community spiritual growth as the Church approaches this sacred year.
