Pastoral Training Course for Deacons: Nurturing Future Shepherds

The Pastoral Training Course for Deacons of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church was held from 11 to 15 November 2024 at the Catholicate Centre, Pattom, Trivandrum. This pivotal programme is a testament to the Church’s dedication to equipping its deacons with the spiritual and pastoral skills required for their mission.

The training commenced with an inaugural session presided over by His Eminent Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. In his address, His Eminence highlighted the importance of pastoral care as the cornerstone of their future priesthood and inspired the deacons to approach their calling with humility and grace.

Adding depth to the programme, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mor Silvanos, the Curia Bishop, delivered a message that resonated deeply with the participants, emphasizing the need to balance spiritual growth with compassionate pastoral service.

The meticulous organisation of the course was spearheaded by Fr. Thomas Madakkummoottil, whose guidance and leadership ensured a transformative experience for all the attendees.
