In an assembly of minds, the Kerala Catholic Teachers Guild launched its State Leadership Conference at the Kovalam Renewal Centre. The event, inaugurated by Mons. Dr. Thomas Jessayyan Netto, Archbishop of the Thiruvananthapuram Latin Archdiocese, marked a key moment for educational leadership within the community.
Archbishop Dr. Thomas Netto emphasized the critical role of enlightened educators in creating a transformative impact within society. He advocated for an imaginative approach in pedagogy, suggesting that “teachers with a vision can inspire change and engage in the broader social dialogue, enhancing community interaction and development through education.”
The conference saw a variety of activities and sessions designed to equip teachers with the latest advancements and methodologies in education. Notably, the event featured a special session on artificial intelligence and practical tips for teachers, led by industry expert Mr. Shajan. This session highlighted the importance of integrating modern technology in teaching, preparing students for a rapidly evolving digital world.
The Kerala Catholic Bishops’ Council (KCBC) Education Commission, chaired by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios, played a central role in organizing this enriching conference.
Biju Olattupuram, State President of the Teachers Guild, chaired the event, along with Director Rev. Fr. Antony Arackal, Diocesan Secretary C.T. Varghese, Treasurer Mathew Joseph, Corporate Manager Fr. Dyson Yesudas, Vice Presidents Elizabeth Lissy, Sini George, Secretary G. Biju, and Diocesan President Ignatius Layola, among others contributing significantly to the discussions. The sessions included a variety of topics, from educational policy to practical classroom management techniques, all aimed at empowering teachers to foster a nurturing and innovative learning environment. As part of a special recognition, Fr. Dyson Yesudas was felicitated with a ponnadu, celebrating his contributions to the educational sector.
