In an embodiment of faith in action, the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum has dedicated the ‘Ivaniyan Gardens’ to the nation as a living commemoration of its 90th anniversary. This initiative, situated amidst the serene Malankara Hills in Vettinad, is a beacon of hope, providing ten deserving families without homes or land with the means to rebuild their lives with dignity.
The project, which aligns with the Major Archbishopric’s mission to serve the community, was inaugurated with the naming of the location as ‘Ivaniyan Gardens’ by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos. The name honours the rich heritage of the church and its compassionate vision for the underprivileged.
On the morning of February 17, 2024, four completed houses in Ivaniyan Gardens were blessed by His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, in a ceremony that encapsulated the spirit of Christian love and charity. The event marked a new beginning for the families as they received the keys to their new homes. Following the blessing, a cornerstone laying ceremony was held for six additional homes, signaling the continued expansion of this noble project.
His Excellency Polycarpos Tirumeni, the Auxiliary Bishop of the Major Archdiocese, Fr. Thomas Kayyalackal, the Vicar General, and numerous esteemed priests and collaborators, were present to witness this momentous occasion. Esteemed sisters, beloved lay brothers and sisters, and local community members also graced the event with their presence, a testament to the strong community bonds and collective support for the initiative.
