The faithful of the St. Peter & St. Paul Malankara Catholic Church, Niagara Region, joyfully marked the beginning of the Year of the Word (2024-2025) and the Catechism Academic Year (2024-2025) with a solemn celebration. The event was led by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mor Anthonios, the Bishop of the Eparchy of St. John Chrysostom, New Delhi, who graced the occasion with his spiritual presence.
As part of the Year of the Word, the Bible enthronement ceremony was conducted, during which the Holy Bible was placed in a revered position, symbolising its central role in the life of the Church and the faithful. The congregation recited the special Year of the Word prayers, focusing on deepening their relationship with the Scriptures throughout the year.
In conjunction with the start of the Catechism Academic Year, the catechism students of the parish presented various cultural programmes, showcasing their talents and enthusiasm. The children’s performances were a reflection of their growing faith and understanding of the Church’s teachings.
His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mor Anthonios extended his blessings to all the students and teachers, encouraging them to stay committed to their catechetical formation and to grow in both knowledge and spirituality. He expressed his hopes for a fruitful academic year, with the young generation embracing the values of the Gospel.
The event’s liturgical celebrations were led by Fr. Aji Varghese, the parish priest, who guided the faithful in prayer and reflection, emphasising the importance of both the Word of God and catechetical instruction in the life of the Church.
