The serene setting of the Catholicate Centre at Pattom, Trivandrum, transformed into a spiritual hub from 4 to 7 November 2024, as the 9th batch of Hudoto—Ongoing Priestly Formation for the clergy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church took place. The programme underscored the Church’s commitment to nurturing its priests through continued learning and spiritual enrichment.
The event commenced with an inspiring inaugural session led by His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Geevarghese Mor Makarios, Chairman of the Synodal Commission for Clergy. His words highlighted the significance of sustained formation in the priesthood, emphasizing the holistic growth required for the clergy’s sacred responsibilities.
Adding to the solemnity, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Antony Mor Silvanos, the Formation Committee Coordinator, delivered a thought-provoking message, reiterating the Church’s mission to foster spiritual strength and pastoral excellence among its clergy.
On 7 November, the concluding day, the revered His Eminent Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, Major Archbishop-Catholicos of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, celebrated the Holy Qurbono at the Tomb Chapel. Addressing the priests, His Beatitude spoke of the profound role they play in shaping the spiritual lives of their communities and encouraged them to draw strength from their vocation.
The seamless organisation of the event was spearheaded by Fr. Thomas M and Fr. Thomas Mukulumpurath, whose efforts ensured a spiritually enriching and smoothly conducted formation programme.
The Hudoto formation serves as a cornerstone in the Church’s vision for its clergy—a blend of tradition, faith, and renewed spiritual vigour, reflecting the enduring legacy of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church.
