MCYM Auckland Unveils Comprehensive Action Plan for 2024

Auckland, 28th January 2024: The Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) of St. Mary’s Syro Malankara Catholic Mission, Auckland, has launched an ambitious action plan for the year 2024, promising a year brimming with spiritual, cultural, and community events.

The action plan was inaugurated following a Holy Mass, with Father Daniel Kulangara leading the ceremony. The year-round plan outlines a host of activities aimed at enhancing community engagement, spiritual growth, and social outreach.

Key highlights of the 2024 Action Plan include:

  • January: The year starts with the inauguration of the action plan, a membership campaign, and house visits, setting a tone of outreach and growth.
  • February: The focus is on spiritual enrichment with Adoration prayers and the ‘Helping Hands’ initiative during the Lent season.
  • March: Continuing the Lenten observance with the ‘Way of the Cross’ prayer units and ‘Helping Hands’ activities.
  • April: MCYM Families will have the opportunity to bond during a one-day outing.
  • May: A field day, or sports meet, will provide a platform for healthy competition and physical activity.
  • June: The halfway mark of the year will see the ‘Helping Hands’ distribution and a Senate session, alongside Vallikurishu & Chayachithra parayanam in various locations including Hamilton, Napier, Palmerston North, and Wellington.
  • July: Celebration of Mar Ivanious day and the Ivania-24 Bible Quiz, engaging the youth in the life of the church and its teachings.
  • August: Blast 2024 (Kalolsavam), a cultural fest, is set to showcase the talents within the community.
  • September: Reunion commemorations will gather the faithful in a jubilant remembrance of the historical union with the Catholic Church. Concurrently, Onam 2024 will be celebrated with great enthusiasm in Auckland, honoring Kerala’s most beloved and culturally rich festival.
  • October: The Rosary Prayer and Youth Day celebration will take place, fostering devotion and camaraderie among the youth.
  • November: The Senete Meeting and Election will set the stage for leadership and planning for the upcoming year.
  • December: The year concludes with grand Christmas Celebrations and the ‘Jingle Bells ’24’ event, promising festive joy and community spirit.

The Auckland Malayali Samajam’s newly elected President, Mr. Robin K. Babu, was also felicitated at the inaugural event, acknowledging his leadership role within the wider Malayali community.

The MCYM Auckland Region’s 2024 action plan is a testament to their dedication to creating a vibrant and active community. The youth movement is poised for a year filled with faith, fellowship, and festivity, strengthening their presence in Auckland and beyond.
