Sri. Dr K.T Jaleel, Honorable Minister for Local Administration, Kerala inaugurated the Developmental Retreat programme by the Kerala Social Service Forum of KCBC, at Mar Gregorios Renewal Centre, Nalanchira, Trivandrum, on 13 October 2016.
The minister reminded that the basis of all social activities should be human goodness. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the president of KCBC presided over the function and said that “The Social Service forum of the Church has to respond properly to one’s contemporary needs and should be aimed at the public living outside the churches”.
The Retreat was organized for the directors and programme coordinators of 31 Catholic dioceses in Kerala and it discussed matters on disaster management, change in climate, food, housing and agriculture problems.
Mr S.M Vijayanand (Chief Secretary), T.K Jose (Principle Secretary, Kerala), Dr Shekar Kuriakose, Mr John Samuel, Mr P. Balachandran (General Manager, NABARD) and Dr V.R . Haridas ( Zonal Manager, Caritas India) addressed the participants. Mr T.A. Varghese and Mr M.J. Joseph were the Moderator of various sessions. The programme was organized by Rev. Fr George Vettikattil (Director, Kerala Social Service Forum), Rev. Fr. Bovas Mathew (Director, Malankara Social Service Society) Rev. Sr Jaseena, Mr Rajan M. Karakkattil and Mr Joby Mathew.
