Msgr. George of The Archdiocese of Kottayam accepts the title of Ramban at The Cross

Ranni: Mon George, the auxiliary bishop-designate of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, Knanaya, accepted the title of Ramban on the cross. Moran More Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the head of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, presided over the service held at St. Teresa’s Canaanite Catholic Church in Ranni. Mar Mathew Moolakkattu, Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, and Mar Joseph Pandarasseryl, Assistant Bishop were also present. From Mavelikkara Eparchy, Bishop Dr. Joshua Mar Ignatios, Bishop of Pathanamthitta Eparchy, Samuel Mar Irenios, Yuhanon Mar Chrysostom, Mar Thoma Metropolitan Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Safran Metropolitan and Kuriakose Mar Ivanios of the Canaanite Church also participated in the ministry.

Mon. George’s consecration of Rambachan will be held on The 14th of this month at Christuraja Cathedral in Kottayam on Saturday and afternoon.

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, the 3rd Anniversary of the Enthronement of our Eparchial Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos was celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral. To mark the occasion, a cake was cut by Bishop Stephanos, who was surrounded by many of his flock. May God continue to grant our dear Aboon good health and wisdom as he continues to shepherd our Eparchy.

Blessing of the New Jersey Parish Rectory

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, the newly renovated New Jersey Parish rectory was blessed by the Eparchial Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The Pastor, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery Cor-episcopo, Associate Pastor Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas, Rev. Sr. Jocelyn Edathil SIC and a few parish members joined the Bishop during the service. The Parish was also blessed by the presence of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of Parasala, as well as the Cathedral Rector, Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth. The building will be used for parish office, meetings, catechism and vicar residence. Congratulations to the St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish, New Jersey on completing this milestone.

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish of New Jersey celebrated Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery Cor-episcopo’s Golden Sacerdotal Jubilee. Cor-episcopo celebrated the solemn Holy Qurbono. Shortly after the Holy Qurbono a brief felicitation program with His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, Associate Pastor Rev. Jobin Thomas and a small group of parishioners present. Cor-episcopo’s family in India, Canada, New Zealand and other parts of the globe, and remaining parishioners were able to view the Holy Qurbono and program live on parish YouTube channel. During the program, Stephanos Thirumeni delivered the keynote address and presented the jubilarian a ponnada and an Apostolic Blessing from Holy Father Pope Francis to our beloved Peter Achen. Rev. Sr. Jocelyn Edathil S.I.C., Parish Secretary Mr. John P. Varghese, Parish Treasurer Mr. Ansel Vijayan and Parish Council Member Mr. Saji Keekkadan all felicitated the Cor-episcopo. “Fratelli tutti”, Pope Francis to sign new encyclical on Oct. 3 in Assisi

The Holy Father will arrive in Assisi in the afternoon (3 October) where he will celebrate Holy Mass at the Tomb of St. Francis, which will be followed by the signing of the encyclical.

In a statement released on Saturday, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, said the encyclical is entitled Fratelli tutti on fraternity and social friendship.

Rt. Rev. Geevarghese Mannikaottu Corepiscopo entered his eternal rest at 3 AM (IST) on February 29, 2020, at Kims Hospital, Trivandrum. He will be brought home at Kaithaparampu near Adoor, Kerala at 6 pm on Sunday. His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis will officiate prayers at Mannikarottu Corepiscopo’s home at 1 pm on Monday and the funeral service will be at Manchadimukku St. Ignatius Syro Malankara Catholic Church at 2.30 pm on Monday. Mannikarottu Corepiscopo served as Coordinator of North America Mission and was the president of Malankara Catholic Mission of North America and ministered as pastor of Malankara Mission at Greater New York and Chicago & Dallas parishes. The Eparchial Bishop His Excellency Most Rev. Philipos Mar Stephanos will attend the funeral service at home and Church. Prayerful homage to the departed soul of Rt. Reverend Geevarghese Mannikarottu Corepiscopo. May the Soul Rest In Peace.

The 34th biennial plenary Meeting of CBCI

The 34th biennial plenary Meeting of the Catholic Bishops’ Conference of India (CBCI) started on 13 February 2020 at St. John’s National Academy for Medical Sciences in Bengaluru. The theme for the plenary assembly is “dialogue– The Path to Truth and Charity”. About 200 bishops and 64 retired bishops from 174 dioceses and the chairmen and executive secretaries from 14 CBCI offices participate in it. His Eminence Oswald Cardinal Gracias, President of the CBCI, presides over the meeting. It will be concluded on Wednesday, 19 February.

St. Jude’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Church Philadelphia moves to Bensalem, PA

The St. Jude Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish has moved from their church in Philadelphia to a new place of worship located in Bensalem, Pennsylvania. On January 19, the Holy Qurbono was celebrated in the new church by the Eparchial Bishop His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. After the Qurbono, a luncheon was held for all the participants. During the luncheon, the MCYM presented a video presentation of all the activities which had taken place at their old church. St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church belonged to the Archdiocese of Philadelphia, and it has a seating capacity of 650. This property has approximately 10 acres of land and has a banquet hall attached, along with a rectory. Congratulations to the Pastor, Rev. Fr. Saji Mukoot, and the entire Philadelphia parish community on this auspicious occasion.

A new Mission Center was formed for the families residing in and around Ipswich, Colchester, and Norwich. A formal inauguration of the new Mission took place on 18th January 2020, by Rev. Fr. Thomas Madukamoottil, Ecclesiastical Coordinator and by Very Rev. Canon Mathew. First Holy Mass celebrated in the newly formed mission by Rev. Fr. Thomas and Very Rev. Canon Mathew. Father and Pioneer of Syro – Malankara Catholic Church, Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios is the Patron of the new Malankara Catholic Mission. Henceforth, the Syro -Malankara Catholic Church in the Region of United Kingdom now has Eighteen Mission Centers.
