Heartfelt and warm welcome to Rev. Fr. Mathew Alumoottil to UAE

To the beloved Rev. Fr. Mathew Alumoottil, who has been appointed to lead the spiritual ministry of the Malankara Church communities in the UAE, along with the respected Rev. Fr. Regi Varghese, a warm and heartfelt welcome.

Rev. Fr. Alumoottil was born on March 30, 1979, to Joseph Chacko and Chinnamma, of Cheppara, Kottarakkara. He has two elder sisters.

He completed his primary and secondary education in Ayiroor-Ummanumpara, and then continued his studies at St. John’s College, Anchaal. He completed his theological studies at St. Aloysius Minor Seminary and St. Mary’s Major Seminary. He also holds a Master’s degree in Malayalam. He was ordained a priest on December 29, 2004, by His Holiness Cyril Mar Baselios Catholicos.

He began his blessed ministry as an assistant priest at St. Peter’s Cathedral, Nannavakadu, the headquarters of the Pathanamthitta Diocese, in 2005.

After serving in Pathanamthitta for two years, he served in the parishes of Anakuzhi, Mailakkara, Kadampara, Puzhnnath, Neerajakkorikka, and Marakunnam in the Diocese of Thiruvananthapuram from 2006 to 2009.

From 2009 to 2013, he served in the parishes of Karammuttu, Kattayakkoottam, Shasthavartham, and Plavara, and also served as the director of Karammuttu Boys Home.

He served in the parishes of Vellurkkoottam, Aruvikuzhy, Valiyamala, Meenangal, Parandottod, and Anappetty from 2013 to 2015, completing 10 years in the priesthood. During this time, he also served as the local manager of the Vimala English School in Kallara-Nedummangad.

From 2015 to 2017, he was appointed to serve in the parishes of Panachampuzha, Cheriyakollam-Kootthal, and Muttachal.

With the formation of the Parassala Diocese in 2017, he was appointed to serve in the diocese, and served in the parishes of Ponnettukuzhy-Vellanada, Poovachal, Mathalampara, and Thozhukulakkoottam until 2020. In addition to his parish duties, he also served as the procurator and vice-rector of the Snehadeepam Minor Seminary.

From 2020, he was serving in the parishes of Ambikekonam and Nallurvattam when he was appointed to the UAE, specifically to the communities of Abu Dhabi, Musaffah, and Al Ain. He is stepping out of the environment of his 15 years of ministry into a new beginning.

With the utmost respect, love, and heartfelt joy, we extend a warm welcome to Rev. Fr. Alumoottil to the Arabian soil.

May the grace of God, through this young priest who has been prepared and appointed to impart God’s compassion and love to humanity, be abundantly revealed to our community. Heartfelt and warm welcome to Rev. Dr. Varghese Manakkalett (Regi Achan) to UAE

To the beloved Rev. Dr. Varghese Manakkalett (Regi Achan), who has been appointed as the new coordinator of the Malankara Catholic Church communities in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a heartfelt and warm welcome.

Regi Achan was born on May 10, 1964, to Varghese Manakkalett and Mariamma at Kadamankulam, Thiruvalla. He has one elder brother and three sisters, including Sister Susy, a member of the Holy Spirit Congregation.

He completed his primary and secondary education in Puthiyassery and Thiruvalla. He completed his philosophy studies at St. Mary’s Seminary, Nalanchery, and theology studies at the Pontifical Seminaries of Alwaye and Mangalapuram. He was ordained a priest on December 26, 1990, by His Grace Timothy Cardinal.

He began his priestly ministry in the Idukki region, serving in the parishes of Kottapaara, Kappaippara, Chettukkuzhi (Vandanamedu), Kompayar, Manthippara, Thelliyoor, and Kaanjittukara. He was the secretary of His Grace Timothy Cardinal from October 1993.

In the 1990s, he earned a master’s degree in Canon Law from Bangalore and a law degree (LLB) from Vivekananda College. He started practicing as an advocate in the Bar Council of Kerala in 2000. During this time, he served in the parishes of Kadappra, Mannar, and Nedumaavu.

For further studies, Regi Achan went to France and earned a doctorate in Canon Law from the Catholic Institute Toulouse in Paris. After returning, he served as the registrar and professor at the major seminary. During this time, he also passed with first rank in MA Philosophy from the University of Kerala.

He served as the judicial vicar in the dioceses of Mavelikkara, Muvattupuzha, Thiruvalla, and Pathanamthitta. During this time, he also completed an MBA in hospital administration. He has also served as the president of our church’s Ordinary Tribunal until recently.

He served as the executive director of the Rashtradipika daily newspaper for more than four years.

This is just a small part of the life of the beloved Achan, who has completed three decades of priestly ministry. It is very proud that he has served in various temples/regions/places in a commendable manner. Regi Achan, who is a dedicated and hardworking person, is a multifaceted personality who is shining in the field of education, administration, and spiritual leadership.

May our community, one of the most vibrant and dedicated communities in the Malankara Catholic Church, continue to walk on the path shown by the apostle of unity, the servant of God Mar Ivanios Valia Thirumeni, in the UAE, upholding the uniqueness, cherished traditions, and faith values of the church, and uniting the church children under one umbrella with strength and unity. May the church children be prepared and equipped in this decade, which is entering the century, to open new windows and dimensions in church ministry, and to climb the steps of unity.

Ordination of Dn. Varghese Anchanithadathil

Rev. Dn. Varghese Anchanithadathil will be ordained a priest for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada on Tuesday, February 2 at Christ the King Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Ranni, Kerala, India by the Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. Dn. Varghese completed his Philosophical Studies at the Papal Seminary in Pune, and his Theological studies at St. Mary’s Malankara Major Seminary, Trivandrum.

The First Holy Qurbono of Rev. Fr. Varghese will be celebrated on the same day (February 2). He will be the fourth priest to be ordained for the Eparchy. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada extends heartfelt congratulations and prayerful best wishes to Father Varghese Anchanithadathil.

Condolence to Rev. Msgr. Lambertus Heinrich Arnold Maria van den Hoven Corepiscopo

Rev. Msgr. Lambertus Heinrich Arnold Maria van den Hoven (88), Priest of the diocese of Hertogenbosch, was called to eternal rest on 20 January 2021. He was an honorary Corepiscopa of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. He was a good friend of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and he used to visit our Church. The Syro-Malankara Catholic Church pays tribute to Rev. Msgr. Lambertus Heinrich Corepiscopo.

The Funeral service will be held on Friday, 29th January 2021, at 10.00 am amongst a restricted circle at the parish church at Lommersdorf.

Feast Day Celebration of H.E. Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos

On Saturday, January 8, 2021, St. Mary Queen of Peace Eparchy celebrated the Feast Day of the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The day was marked with the celebration of the Holy Qurbono with His Excellency as the Main Celebrant, and the Cathedral Rector, Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth as the homilist. The Protosyncellus, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Augustine Mangalath, Rev. Fr. Liju Thundiyil, and Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas also concelebrated the Holy Qurbono. The Rev. Sisters and lay faithful of the tri-state area were in attendance representing the entire Eparchy. At the conclusion of the Holy Qurbono, a bouquet was presented to the Eparchial Bishop, cutting of the festal cake, and a Festal lunch was served in the Parish Hall for those in attendance. Cathedral of the Diocese of Parassala Consecrated

The cathedral church of the Diocese of Parassala was consecrated on Saturday, December 26, 2020, at 2:30 pm. The Kottavila St. Mary’s Church was elevated to the status of a cathedral with the formation of the Diocese of Parassala on August 5, 2017.

The consecration of the church was led by His Beatitude Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the head and father of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church. The co-consecrators were His Grace Thomas Mar Eusebius Metropolitan, the bishop of the Diocese of Parassala; His Grace Joshua Mar Ignatius, the bishop of the Diocese of Mavelikkara; His Grace Joseph Mar Thomas, the bishop of the Diocese of Bathery; His Grace Samuel Mar Irenaeus, the bishop of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta; His Grace Vincent Mar Paulose, the bishop of the Diocese of Marthandom; His Grace Yohannan Mar Theophilus, the bishop of the Diocese of Muvattupuzha; His Grace Yohannan Mar Chrysostom, the former bishop of the Diocese of Pathanamthitta; and His Grace Vincent Samuel, the metropolitan of the Diocese of Neyyattinkara.

Priests, religious, members of the pastoral council, and special representatives from the parishes attended the consecration, which was held in accordance with the COVID-19 guidelines. The bishop of the diocese celebrated the Holy Mass at 9 am. The vicar general of the Diocese of Parassala, Monsignor Jose Konnathuvila; the chancellor, Rev. Fr. Hormis Puthenveettil; Rev. Fr. Bernard Valiyavila; the parish vicar, Rev. Fr. Sebastian Kannanthanam; and members of various committees led the consecration ceremonies.

Blessing of the Malankara Catholic TV Studio

The official YouTube channel of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, Malankara Catholic TV, initiated under the auspices of the Synodal Commission for Communication & Media, had its studio blessed on December 12, 2020, Saturday, at 8 AM. The ceremony was held at the Major Archiepiscopal Curia, with the blessing imparted by the head and father of the Church, Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos.

Geevarghese Mar Aprem is being anointed today as the Auxiliary Bishop of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, Knanaya Church

Kottayam: The coronation of Geevarghese Rambachan, assistant bishop of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, will be held today at 2.30 pm at Christuraja Cathedral in Kottayam. The services are performed under the patronage of The Metropolitan of Thiruvalla Archdiocese, Rev. Thomas Mar Kurilos Thirumeni. Mar Mathew Moolakkattu, Metropolitan of Kottayam Athirupatha and Assistant Bishop Joseph Pandarasseryl will attend the service as co-participants.

Malankara Syrian Catholic Church extends its greetings to Venerable Geevarghese Rambachan of the Canaanite Catholic Church on his elevation to the rank of Bishop.

Msgr. George of The Archdiocese of Kottayam accepts the title of Ramban at The Cross

Ranni: Mon George, the auxiliary bishop-designate of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, Knanaya, accepted the title of Ramban on the cross. Moran More Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos, the head of the Malankara Syrian Catholic Church, presided over the service held at St. Teresa’s Canaanite Catholic Church in Ranni. Mar Mathew Moolakkattu, Metropolitan of the Archdiocese of Kottayam, and Mar Joseph Pandarasseryl, Assistant Bishop were also present. From Mavelikkara Eparchy, Bishop Dr. Joshua Mar Ignatios, Bishop of Pathanamthitta Eparchy, Samuel Mar Irenios, Yuhanon Mar Chrysostom, Mar Thoma Metropolitan Dr. Geevarghese Mar Theodosius Safran Metropolitan and Kuriakose Mar Ivanios of the Canaanite Church also participated in the ministry.

Mon. George’s consecration of Rambachan will be held on The 14th of this month at Christuraja Cathedral in Kottayam on Saturday and afternoon.

3rd Anniversary of the Enthronement of Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, the 3rd Anniversary of the Enthronement of our Eparchial Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos was celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral. To mark the occasion, a cake was cut by Bishop Stephanos, who was surrounded by many of his flock. May God continue to grant our dear Aboon good health and wisdom as he continues to shepherd our Eparchy.
