Feast of Commemoration of Mar Ivanios, Padayatra

The Padayatra organized by the Malankara Catholic Youth Movement (MCYM) in commemoration of the Feast of Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios will start from Ranni-Perunnadu. The Padayatris from various parts will join together and reach the Tomb at 5.00 pm on Friday 13 July 2012. It will be followed by the Dhoopaprarthana at the Tomb Chapel

Mar Ivanios day celebrations will start with the Morning Prayers and Holy Qurbono at St. Mary’s Cathedral on 14 July 2012. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis will be the main celebrant. Other Bishops of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church and Rev. Priests will concelebrate in the Holy Qurbono. It will be followed by the Dhoopaprarthana.

Preparations for the 59th Commemoration of the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios begins

Fifteen days long celebrations of the commemoration of the Servant of God Archbishop Mar Ivanios started at St. Mary’s Cathedral. The programme started with the evening prayer and the Holy Qurbono celebrated by His Excellency Samuel Mar Irenios, the Auxiliary Bishop of Trivandrum, at the Tomb Chapel. It was followed by the official inauguration of the celebrations by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos. His Beatitude led Dhoopaprarthana. The day was markded with the releasing of two new books by and on Mar Ivanios. The republished book Hardhava Prarthan (The Occasional Prayers)  written by Mar Ivanios was released by His Beatitude by giving the first copy to His Excellency Thomas Mar Anthonios, the Curia Bishop and the Postulator. The second book Jagarukanaya Ajapalakan (Collection of the Pastoral Letters of Mar Ivanios) edited by Fr. Prabheesh George was released by His beatitude by giving the first copy to His Excellency Samuel Mar Irenios. Many Rev. Priests and Sisters and faithful were present during the programme. Everyday from morning to evening the intercessory prayers will be conducted at the Tomb chapel led by various groups.

Gathering of Priests of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum

One day get together of Rev. Priests of the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum held at Catholicate Centre, Pattom on 2 July 2012. His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos inaugurated the meeting at 9.30 am. There were discussions on pastoral matters and adoration of the Holy Eucharist. Classes were taken by Very Rev. Fr. George Panackkal V.C. and Very Rev. Fr. John Kochuthundil. The meeting concluded at 3.30 pm with prayer and blessings of His Beatitude.

Rev. Sr. Suseela SIC called to eternal rest

Rev. Sr. Suseela SIC (86) of Tiruvalla Province of the Congregation for Sisters of Imitation of Christ was called to eternal rest on 30 June 2012. She belonged to Koratti Erappakattu family.

She became a Rheumatic patient at the age of 24 and spent rest of her life in bed. Like St. Alphonsa the presence and prayer life of Sr. Suseela was a strong support to the Church and Bethany. She received all her sufferings with a cheerful heart and gave spiritual strength to the coming generation. She was called by our Heavenly Father to the eternal rest.

Funeral service was held at Thirumoolapuram Bethany Convent on 02 July 2012 at 2.30 pm. His Grace Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos officiated the funeral service.

Mar Ivanios Day celebrations 2012

 

The servent of God Mar Ivanios Day celebrations of 2012 will be celebrated on July 14, 2012, as July 15 is a Sunday. Padayathra will be started from Perunad on 9th and it will reach Pattom cathedral by 13th evening.

The logo of 82nd Reunion day of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church was published by Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Anthonios OIC, Curia Bishop in the presence of Most Rev. Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom (Bishop of the Eparchy of Pathanamthitta) on 4 June 2012 at Pathanamthitta. Rt. Rev. Msgr. Jose Chamackalayil, Rev. Priests, Sisters and faithful were present.

Rev. Sr. Mary Magdalin SIC called to eternal rest

Rev. Sr. Mary Magdalin  SIC (85) of Tiruvalla Province of the Congregation for Sisters of Imitation of Christ  was called to eternal rest on 25 June 2012. She belonged  to Kuttoor Polachirackal Malayil family.
She had done exemplary service in the Congregation as its  Provincial Superior, General Councillor,  teacher and Hostel Warden.  Her dedicated religious life and love for the fellow beings gave great insight and example to the younger generation . Funeral service was held at Thirumoolapuram Bethany Convent on 26 June 2012 at 3.30 pm. His Grace Most Rev. Thomas Mar Koorilos officiated the funeral service.

Rev. Dr. Santhosh Madathil OIC called to eternal rest

Rev. Dr. Santhosh Madathil OIC, a member of Bethany Navajeevan Province of the Order of the Imitation of Christ, was called to eternal reward on 5 June 2012. He belongs to Nellimattom Madathil family. He was 65 years old.

He rendered his service at various Bethany Ashram such as Bethany Generalate, Kottayam, Nalanchira, Bethany Nagar, Nedumangad and Santhigiri Ashram. Also he served as Parish Priest of several parishes in the Major Archieparchy of Trivandrum, Archieparchy of Tiruvalla, Eparchy of Bathery and Eparchy of Puttur.

He secured a doctorate in Malayalam Literature from the University of Kerala. He worked as a professor and Head of Department of Malayalam at Mar Ivanios College, Hostel Warden and Rector of Bethany Students’ Centre, Nalanchira.

The funeral ceremony will be held at Bethany Ashram, Nalanchira on Friday 08 June 2012.

St. Thomas Minor Seminary blessed

His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cleemis Catholicos, the father and head of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church, blessed the newly constructed building for Minor Seminary at Mullanikkadu – Attarikam, Omalloor and dedicated it to the Eparchy of Pathanamthitta on 1 June 2012. Most Rev. Yoohanon Mar Chrysostom (Bishop of Pathanamthitta), Most Rev. Dr. Joshua Mar Ignathios (Bishop of Mavelikara), Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Anthonios (Bishop of the Major Archiepiscopal Curia) concelebrated in the ceremony.

For last two years, St. Thomas Minor Seminary was temporarily functioning at Cappuchin Ashram, Mundukottackal. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Ambasseril was the first Rector of the Seminary. Rev. Fr. Varghese Kuthineth took charge as the new Rector of the Minor Seminary on 1 June 2012. Thykoottathil Rt. Rev. Samuel Ramban and Fr. John Kambara are the Spiritual Fathers. Msgr. Jose Chamakalayil, Msgr. Chacko Thadathil, Fr. Varghese Kaithon, Fr. Abraham Vavolimeppurath, Mr. Mathew Korattickal, Mr. Shaji Puthenpeedika were given the responsibility of the construction works of the Seminary. First four batches of the seminarians are staying and studying in the Minor Seminary.

The construction of the new Cathedral and Bishop’s House are progressing. The blessing of both will be done together with the Re-Union day celebrations.

Rev. Fr. Thomas Mavilethu OIC called to eternal rest

Rev. Fr. Thomas Mavilethu OIC, a member of the Bethany Navajeevan Province of the Order of the Imitation of Christ, was called to eternal rest on 23 May 2012. He belongs to Thumbamon Mavilethu family. He had served as a novice master in Bethany ashram for many years.  He was in Bethany Ashrams at Kanjiramkulam, Vengolla, Mukkampala, Meenangadi, Sakaleshpur and Nalanchira. The funeral was conducted at Bethany Ashram, Nalanchira on 25 May 2012. May his soul rest in peace!
